Bio

Stef Aqui lying on a lichen-covered rock in an embroidered white dress, eyes closed.

Montreal singer-songwriter Stef Aqui dances her tears and invites you to do the same. After playing in the band Beige-à-cœur from 2016 to 2019, she released her first EP, glossAIRE, in 2022; it was nominated at the GAMIQ, Quebec’s independent music awards, the following year.

Carried by a hushed, candid voice over sometimes abrasive beats, her electro-pop explores our emotional dissonances, blending industrial textures, echoes of electronica and touches of alternative pop. Her upcoming album, Danse en pleurs, draws on Montreal nightlife and those moments when rage, joy or nostalgia bring tears to the surface in the middle of a crowd in a trance.
